Pitru Paksha Seva
Pitru Paksha is a fifteen-day period when people pay homage and pray for the salvation of their departed ancestors. Vedic rituals are performed during this period to invoke Lord Krishna’s blessings on them.

What can you offer to your forefathers during Pitru Paksha?
On the occasion of Pitru Paksha, people offer special prayers or Shradh and donate liberally to charity in honour of their forefathers. The shastras recommend that Sadhus and Vaishnavas should be offered Annadana on this auspicious day. It is also beneficial to contribute towards Gau Seva during Pitru Paksha.
Lord Narasimha Dev advises Prahlada Maharaja, following the departure of his father Hiranyakashipu, to perform the Sraddha ceremony for his spiritual benefit and progress.
kuru tvaṁ preta-kṛtyāni pituḥ pūtasya sarvaśaḥ
mad-aṅga-sparśanenāṅga lokān yāsyati supra-jāḥ
My dear child, your father has already been purified just by the touch of My body at the time of his death. Nonetheless, the duty of a son is to perform the sraddha ritualistic ceremony after his father’s death so that his father may be promoted to a planetary system where he may become a good citizen and devotee.
